"The Krakenheart is my 16th or 17th Uni-Vibe - and quite possibly the best one to date - for al the reasons I have mentioned here." (Stefan Karlsson from Guitar Pedal X).
CONCEPT
The Krakenheart is more than a univibe pedal: it's the conductor of an abyssal symphony that imprisons the spirit of the legendary creature in a fully analog circuit, emanating the pulse of its ancestral energy with every note played.
With timeless tentacles traversing past, present and future, the Krakenheart Vibe pedal allows the musician to evoke both classic and modern sounds, unveiling the psychadelic depth of the soul and guiding them through a sea of musical possibilities.
Continue the vibe journey that adventurers like Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour and Robin Trower started!
CONTROLS
• Level: Controls the overall volume of the pedal, preventing any volume loss and also allowing you to boost your signal!
• Pulse: Determines the speed of the pulse, from very slow to very fast!
• Depth: Sets the wave amplitude. The higher the knob, greater the amplitude and more powerful the effect. From noon to max, the wave tends to a square pulse, while at lower settings the wave will be more sine and the effect subtler.
• Shadow: Changes the center point of the oscillation (BIAS). Counterclockwise, the sound stands out in the higher frequencies. In the center, the frequencies are more balanced. Clockwise, the bass is emphasized. With the "Depth" control from noon to max, it also changes the symmetry of the wave - more symmetrical in the center and asymmetrical at the ends.
• Spectrum: Changes the voice of the pedal by changing the maximum brightness. Counterclockwise the sound has more emphasis on the mids, while clockwise the sound has a fuller frequency range, more reminiscent of classic vibes.
• Dry/Wet (switch): Selects between "Vibe" (up) or "Vibrato" (down).
• Ramp: Externally accessible side trimpot that controls the acceleration/deceleration ramp in when changing speed, both when using the "Hold" footswitch and when using an expression pedal (also applies to the “Pulse” knob itself). In the counterclockwise direction, the change in the speed will be almost instantaneous, while clockwise acceleration is slower. This control alludes to the organic sensation you get when changing the speed of a rotary peaker.
• Low: Inside the pedal there is a trimpot that allows you to adjust the the low end of its pulse.
FOOTSWITCHES
• Bypass: On/Off (true bypass switch);
• Hold: Momentary switch that takes the effect to its maximum speed while it is being held, increasing the user's expressiveness. Interacts with the "Ramp" trimpot;
• EXP: Allows you to connect a TRS expression pedal (10kΩ recommended) to control the speed of the effect via a P10 input. Interacts with the "Ramp" trimpot;

MEDIA
Full disclosure… this is my 8th univibe I currently own. I have a real problem.
Great tweak ability, excellent tone/eq balance through the range of knobs, and just generally sounds great.
My only beef is that in chorus/dry mode (traditional univibe Hendrix-esque mode) the waveform is a little too balanced for my liking. It doesn’t have that super lopsided throb vibe of the original univibe circuit; it’s closer to a sine wave. This probably won’t translate in text… but think wah-wah-wah-wah vs old school wuh-wah, wuh-wah, wuh-wah. Still a very usable and toneful swirl, just a different character and I find myself missing the older style tone.
BUT the same symmetry that you hear in chorus mode, is present in vibe/wet mode. And it’s phenomenal. This pedal in vibe mode, with speed set to 25% and depth set to 50% has been an absolute revelation to my clean/slightly dirty tone. I put it in the effects loop and literally have left it on for the last week. It yields a subtle warble-shimmer that no one hears until I turn it off. A rare piece of gear that inspires you to create new music and play things you wouldn’t have otherwise.
So, overall, I don’t use this pedal how I expected to, but it’s been worth every penny and then some.
Bought the pedal specially because of the vibrato - which has an amazing definition and can be incredibly versatile. Completely satisfied, wouldnt change for any other !
Excellent Univibe! Classic tone’s with modern versatility! I even mixed it together with the Airborn flanger for extra psychedelic sounds! Great communication and customer service was provided, as well.
I've been a fan of Krozz's entire tone and art concept since I discovered the brand through my friend Ceme Marum from PedalQuest BR. Since then, I've acquired both versions of the Krakenheart. The Kraken is an excellent vibe pedal with extras that make it easy to achieve both classic and modern Uni-vibe sounds. The Hold footswitch, expression pedal output, and Trimpot for fine control of the Ramp were brilliant additions to version 2 of the pedal. I'm a fan and highly recommend the Kraken and Krozz Devices.
I’ve never been a big fan of the univibe until now. What a pedal!! The amount of control you have to craft your tone is unparalled in the Krakenheart. I use this pedal in conjunction with the Airborn to make some incredibly wicked tones. Do yourselves a favor and buy a Krakenheart and unleash the beast from the depths!!!
