Airborn Flanger: Top 5 Pedals of 2023 by Reverb's Andy Martin!
Check out what 'Guitar Pedal X' had to say about Krakenheart Vibe!
"The Krakenheart is my 16th or 17th Uni-Vibe - and quite possibly the best one to date - for al the reasons I have mentioned here."
- Stefan Karlsson (Guitar Pedal X)
A vibe pedal that doesn't disappear in the mix? Meet Krakenheart Vibe!
Let customers speak for us
from 23 reviewsThis is an amazing vibe. Me and Krozz had a back and forth conversation about it because I couldn't exactly get the sound I was looking for, because compared to another vibe I have, this definitely has a lot more throb and even with the extra controls it will still be more of a square wave when you crank that depth knob. So I would keep that in mind. But nonetheless I think the addition of a ramper on a univibe is very unique, and this pedal has a lot of headroom, and is great for bass given the internal trim pot. I recommend actually dialing the bass back on the pot so your amp doesn't get too woofy. I still deifnitely think krozz should come out with a v3 that has a symmetry control that lets you sweep from a sine wave to a square wave and is completely independent from the depth control, so that way the throb can be dialed way back when you just want light/smooth modulation, but it still is a really fantastic pedal.
Pro's: Clean, Natural tambres that can slice thru a mix. No strident here. Controls are intuitive and useable sounds come with ease.
Cons: maybe, some more tweakability maybe adding an option to put the effect a bit back more in the mix.
I have used more expensive Flangers but the airborne to me may be the
Best Flanger for price point and easily challenges those that are hundreds more.
As a happy Airborn Flanger owner it was easy to pull the trigger on the Krakenheart. I guessed a preset I would like it and it was almost spot on with how I set my vibes pedals. I've owned many vibes and this tops em all in my opinion. Great work Krozz team!
… this one might still be the one!
To be honest, I do like the flanging effect, but only in very few specific forms. Tried some pedals, certainly the classics, liked them more or less, but none was really perfect for me.
This one is different ! Totally love it, easy to dial in the settings I want! And since it’s super versatile, it will probably satisfy lots of people, no matter, if your totally into Flanging anyways or if you are a kind of „flanger-snob“, like me.
This one does the trick!
Full disclosure… this is my 8th univibe I currently own. I have a real problem.
Great tweak ability, excellent tone/eq balance through the range of knobs, and just generally sounds great.
My only beef is that in chorus/dry mode (traditional univibe Hendrix-esque mode) the waveform is a little too balanced for my liking. It doesn’t have that super lopsided throb vibe of the original univibe circuit; it’s closer to a sine wave. This probably won’t translate in text… but think wah-wah-wah-wah vs old school wuh-wah, wuh-wah, wuh-wah. Still a very usable and toneful swirl, just a different character and I find myself missing the older style tone.
BUT the same symmetry that you hear in chorus mode, is present in vibe/wet mode. And it’s phenomenal. This pedal in vibe mode, with speed set to 25% and depth set to 50% has been an absolute revelation to my clean/slightly dirty tone. I put it in the effects loop and literally have left it on for the last week. It yields a subtle warble-shimmer that no one hears until I turn it off. A rare piece of gear that inspires you to create new music and play things you wouldn’t have otherwise.
So, overall, I don’t use this pedal how I expected to, but it’s been worth every penny and then some.
The pedal not only sounds great; it looks great too. A lot of thought was clearly put in to the Airborn and I can’t wait to keep experimenting with the sounds. My customer service experience with Krozz was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Highly versatile and well thought out Analog Flanger - Easy to dial in and just fun to play. Takes drive pedals well - I liked it so much just ordered a Krakenheart vibe!
Bought the pedal specially because of the vibrato - which has an amazing definition and can be incredibly versatile. Completely satisfied, wouldnt change for any other !
My friend liked mine so much I bought him one!
Its an amazing pedal. I'm constantly finding new sound with it. I use it between fuzz and overdrives and it just sits perfectly adding movement and depth.
Built like a tank and sounds amazing! You just can’t beat real analog flanging. A+++
I love my Airborn, it does the Electric Mistress thing really well and also sounds fantastic with dirt. It’s consistently musical across the range of controls and plays nicely with my rig, including with drive pedals featuring internal charge pumps (which have upset my other flangers). Super happy with it.
My favorite flanger! It can truly do it all. From light chorus to full on jet plane feedback. Well worth the money
Excellent Univibe! Classic tone’s with modern versatility! I even mixed it together with the Airborn flanger for extra psychedelic sounds! Great communication and customer service was provided, as well.
